Juana’s story struck me. She was a mother, a wife and a leader. And this made her stand out from the crowd of male heroes of the independence movement. I decided to focus on her story and figure out how to bring it to the screen.
At this point, I still had no idea how to write a decent script. And I also knew that Hollywood would have little interest in South American war history. The same was true about the German movie industry in general. So I realized that a private investor might be interested in providing the necessary funds to film Juana’s story. But without being a household screenwriter, there was little chance to actually impress anyone, let alone someone who I was hoping would give me the money to make this a reality.
A new strategy was necessary. I needed a concept trailer. To showcase the style and filming abilities.
