Children of Kings needed a break. And I needed a new idea. Something that would draw the interest of German producers.
Through a combination of events, the idea for a new script emerged. A story set in futuristic Berlin. And I now had the opportunity to play with ideas in one of my favorite genres. All the bets were off. Invisible soldiers, futuristic Samurai warriors. As long as it could organically be part of the story, I added it.
The script itself was finished after several months and with the help of a concept artist I also got several concept pieces that helped envision the film. An action-thriller set in Berlin. The first of its kind. I wanted it to land with a bang.
Well… It didn’t and it was hard to find support for the story. Similar issues as with Children of Kings although here, the genre and lack of experience were possibly the key. Also, the fact that I had almost no connections in the film industry made me a nobody.
Of course, I had a new idea to address just that. A short film. And this time it would be different. No trailer but a full-blown short film that we could proudly present at festivals, earn awards and recognition and finally find our way into the world of film making.
